About
Cornell Cooperative Extension Schuyler County (CCESC) has been in business for over 100 years, helping farmers with critical agricultural research and extension needs, teaching young people life skills through 4-H, fostering adult based knowledge in homemaking and gardening and providing enrichment activities through Hidden Valley Camp, after school programs and youth clubs. We put knowledge to work in pursuit of economic vitality, ecological sustainability, and social well-being. It began with a simple, practical, brilliant idea to connect the knowledge, resources, and research of Cornell University with the people of New York State. To help them tackle challenges. Take care of their families. Build businesses. And improve communities. All while working collaboratively, for a greater good. That connection is the Cornell Cooperative Extension.Approximately 100 years later, this One Great Idea is burning brighter than ever. Each year, more than 10 million people throughout New York State participate in extension workshops, seminars, meetings, and tours, or request specific help or advice from Extension personnel.Together with the people of New York State, CCE is taking on some of the greatest challenges of the new century, such as fostering energy independence, sustainable agriculture, childhood obesity, and youth, family and community programs.Over the course of the past century, many things have changed, but the spirit and mission of CCE remain the same.
